The Gift of Chiropractic
came to be
let us tell you the story of The Gift of Chiropractic. the inspiration for TGOC came through while at a chiropractic seminar while dr. mason was still at student back in 2021. the idea and meaning behind it is multifaceted with numerous sayings and quotes that you may have seen on various pages on our website that serve as a basis for the philosophy that the practice is built upon. “yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift from God, which is why it is called the present”, “by taking care of the present, the future takes care of itself.” all of these quotes are meaningful to dr. mason because at some point or another, he realized that the Present Moment is always accessible, especially when the bandwidth of the individual is able to tune into the Present and integrate the past and future, all the things that take our awareness and attention. a mentor of ours (dr. marvin talsky) once said, “the only state of consciousness that you can be connected to Universal Intelligence is Present Time Consciousness (PTC)”, a term that the founder of dr. mason’s chiropractic college (dr. jim parker) coined to demonstrate the importance of being present, even during the mayhem that can come from numerous sources of stress.
the first logo, created at the seminar
“the only state of consciousness that you can be connected to Universal Intelligence is Present Time Consciousness”
these are a few of the images that dr. mason sent to joe stovall, a classmate of his from high school who became a graphic designer. these are the images that mason sent joe for his artistic expertise, drawing inspiration from stock images and the logos of other colleagues.
there are numerous chiropractic related symbolism embedded into the logo. the three stacked vertebrae, represent philosophy, science, and art of chiropractic, which are the fundamental tenets chiropractic was founded on. all three must be present and utilized to truly practice chiropractic. dr. bj palmer, the developer of chiropractic, talked about the adjustment with “that something” - which is like the secret sauce of your favorite burger or the secret ingredient to a meal’s success. the bow wrapping up the vertebrae symbolizes “that something” which comes from two people being tuned into the present moment, with that present time consciousness.
the action lines on either side of the wrapped presents have dual meaning. each action line represents a core value of TGOC: authenticity, , integrity, truthfulness, service, presence, and freedom. the three on either side pays homage to the 33 principles of chiropractic as well as the 33 vertebrae in the spine when you’re born
the orientation of the hands is also symbolic. the beauty of the orientation is that one can’t discern which hands are giving the gift and which are receiving the gift. we love this symbolism because of the law of reciprocity - of giving and receiving. there’s a beautiful exchange that occurs when we give and receive, and here at The Gift, it’s challenging to discern where the giving stops and the receiving begins. there’s a french proverb that states, '“the presence of the doctor is the first part of the cure”, but here’s the thing: the presence of the doctor doesn’t matter if the presence of the ‘patient’ or member is absent. so keeping in mind that your presence is the gift, and the presence of the doctor is the first part of the cure, we both give each other the gift of our presence, and in turn, we both receive the presence of the other. there’s another saying, “when you serve, you are served”, so when you show up for your initial visit or 50th visit, in the process of me serving you, in return, i am served by your presence and what incredible things can happen in the Present moment.
finally, the colors utilized in our branding. the green “name” represents vitality, the gold “name” promotes positivity, as well as bringing the richness and purity of heart. the brown/tan “name” represents a neutral tone to synergize with the green and gold, evoking warmth and security by giving a sense of the same earthy stability the other colors bring.
